Travelling South America with a Baby – Featured Guest Post on @yTravelblog

June 15, 2013 at 8:55 pm

Last week we were featured on the fantastic y Travel Blog. Excited about our first guest post, we are very grateful that Caz and Craig featured us on their blog.

In our guest post we talked about travelling through South America with a baby, and how:

  • Preparation and routine have been our saviour
  • We often take time out and rely on support networks
  • We totally recommend travelling with a baby

Check out the full guest post here.

The hardest thing we found about writing this guest post was choosing just 5 photos to showcase our trip! So… we decided to post some more pics here that weren’t featured over at y Travel Blog 🙂

Sleep deprived and a little jaded from a day trip to Niebla that wasn’t as fruitful as we’d hoped, we jumped off the bus at Cerveceria Kunstmann hoping for the best. Burning my lungs, I could taste the sulphur. Trying to use my glove as a breathing mask I attempted to gasp some ‘clean’ air. To my surprise, at 2800m I was not affected by the altitude at all. My legs were burning, but dodging the toxic fumes in between happy snaps was definitely my priority as we walked around the perimeter of the smouldering crater.

I’ll admit, I’m a Lonley Planet snob. Particularly when it comes to eating out in a new destination, I like to go by recommendation. I don’t mind trying something new, but by far I have always had the best eating experiences when following the trusty guidance of others.

Travelling with an 8 month old bub is character building (and relationship building) to say the least! Unfortunately one of our friend’s comment “oh that’s great, Ollie will be able to sleep anywhere by the time you get back” was slightly misguided. Instead we’ve found that if you have an average sleeper before travelling, expect them to potentially turn into a terrible sleeper when on the road!!
